" My name is Akiva Tevet and I am 64 years old. Half a year ago I set out for a travel in Peru. I joined there my youngest son Nimrod and together we set for a trip in the Andes near the city Huaraz. When we got back to Lima from the 10 days trip, I experienced acute blockage of the Urethra. After few hours, when things changed dramatically bad, the hotel front desk manager, refer me to Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique. It took only 20 minutes until she arrived to my hotel room and dealt with my situation wisely, emphatic with the emergency as needed. I was hospitalized in her clinic and from then on, she took a great care of me until I left the hospital to the Airport, flying back to Tel Aviv for further treatment. Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique, spoke fluently English and was like angel to me. She is not only a wonderful professional Doctor; she is also a wonderful warm and kind person. Meeting her through this bad illnesses made all this experience a thoughtful and philosophical event for me. We became a very good friends and I can only thank her for the fabulous professional treatment and her kindness and hope that other travellers will meet her in different circumstances but in case it will be illness or injury, you can count that she is going to be your garden angel.   "Dear Dr. Manrique in the summer of 2016, our son Elad was traveling South America. Unfortunately, he had to cancel his plans of traveling in Peru after a decrease in his physical health, and had to be evicted in order to get special treatment. After many hospitals and unsuccessful treatments in Bolivia and Peru, Elad was sent to "Sanna Clinica San Borja" to be under your supervision. We wanted to thank you for aiding our son with the best staff and means while he was being hospitalized in "Sanna Clinica San Borja". Thank you for the professionalism you have showed, the support you have provided, but most importantly - thank you for the care you have given in our time of need. When we got the news about our son decreasing condition during his trip, we have found ourselves at a state that we did not know what to do or whom to turn for help. With our initial conversation on the phone with you, you calmed our nerves and assured us he is going to get the best medical care he could get. During the weeks of his hospitalization, we spent many nights talking on the phones and getting frequent updates about his health condition and treatment. Those were long talks into the night, sharing stories about being a mother and worrying for a child miles away. For us you were more than just a doctor - you were our friend and savior in Peru. You understood well how difficult is to be a patient in a foreign country, and nurtured our son with mother-like love and care in order to ease his staying in "Sanna Clinica San Borja". You set yourself to not only treat his health, but also to uplift his spirit. You were defiantly his "Peruvian mother".

You helped us and our son not only by providing the best medical services that can be found in Peru, but also by being a caring and loving person, someone to talk to and even a shoulder to cry on when things got hard. Thanks to your devoted care and persistence of pursuing after diagnose, he was able to recover quickly and be sent home quickly. For all the things you have done for our son we will be forever grateful. Aviram and Gila Lavy.

" Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique saved my life in May 2016, and cannot thank her enough for that. Two days after arriving in Lima from Sydney, I turned to the hotel´s reception desk with increasingly severe abdominal pains. I assumed that it was a gastric upset but the Dr. Manrique, who came promptly on a Sunday night, knew that it might be something more severe. She convinced me to go to hospital with her, where X-Ray, Ultrasound and CT revealed that I suffered from an intestinal ischemia and infarction. I was operated on that night at the Hospital Sanna San Borja. Had the blocked section of the intestine not been removed promptly, it would have been fatal. The medical attention I received was first rate. Dr. Manrique not only cared for me but also looked after my husband and daughter who arrived the following day from Australia. Then I was still in Intensive care, but during the 10 day recovery period Dr. Manrique visited every day. I love her stories. It is wonderful to know that in totally unfamiliar places, as Lima was for me, a doctor like Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique is there to help. "

My name is Yonadav Yeruham and I am 23 years of age. Last year I set out on my travels in South America and unfortunately was quite sick during my time in Lima, Peru. I had a high temperature and very inflated throat. After a whole day of lying in bed I decided to contact a local doctor who would be able to provide me with antibiotics and professional advice. Dr Maria Isabel Manrique dealt with my situation brilliantly, giving me a receipt to purchase antibiotics and sending me to a local laboratory to get my throat checked to make sure it wasnt anything too serious. She also spoke fantastic English and was very kind which made everything smooth and easy to communicate. I can only thank her for the kind help that she provided me and recommend her medical attention to whoever requires it.

I want to thank Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique Prieto for her outstanding care. I was in Peru on holiday, had been in a car accident, had 2 fractured ribs and the following night contracted Dysentery. She assured me not to worry – I was in good hands. Her friendly yet professional approach was welcome and refreshing. Dr. Manrique Prieto always greeted me with a smile and even called at night to check on me. I have nothing but praise for her emotional support and medical attention. She is the most professional and caring person.

I`m Ingrid, a 19 year old Norwegian girl and I got ill on my 4 months travel during my stay in Peru. Through my guide from the tour I had been on, I got hold of Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique Prieto. She came to visit me at the hostel I stayed at in Lima already the same day as I asked for her, which was very good for me because I was leaving in the evening. She did the consultation in my hostelroom, and checked everything very closely; both my breathing and temperature, and also throat and nose. She also had some questions about my staying and health and because of her fluent English I had no problem understanding her and I answered the best I could. When the consultation was finished she gave me a list with all the medications I needed, and I could just hand this easily to the pharmacy. I also got a list which closely described how I was supposed to take the different medications and to what time and so on. It was a pleasure to have the consultation by Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique Prieto, and if I lived in Peru I would definitely make her my private doctor. I highly recommend her services to both travelers or locals. Thank you again!

My 15-year old son became ill with acute altitude sickness after three days in Cusco, where we were acclimatising to the altitude before a 5-day trek to Machu Picchu. He had been mildly unwell during the day with a headache but it had not stopped him from sightseeing. During the night he began to cough and his headache became severe. When he told me he had coughed 'pink' phlegm I knew I needed to call the doctor. The hotel called out Dr Manrique and he arrived within 10 minutes. The doctor was calm but firm - we needed to get our son to a hospital as soon as possible. At the hospital Dr Manrique handed over care for our son to his sister, Dr Isabel Marique. We were in the hospital for 2 days and we could not have hoped for better care from Dr Isabel Manrique. She was warm, caring and very thorough in her medical treatment. It was a distressing time for us and Dr Isabel was endlessly patient and good humoured whenever we asked for explanations of everything that was happening to us.

I want to thank Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique Prieto for her outstanding care. I was in Peru on holiday in 2009. I got sick from food-poisoning. I’ve got a stomach ache and diarrhoea. After some days of extensive treatment my sickness was completely cured.. Her friendly yet professional approach made the doctor patient relation very easy. Dr. Manrique Prieto was always reachable, every hour of the day. She responded almost instantly and always approached one with a smile. I have no remarks but I have a great admiration for her emotional support and medical attention. She is the most professional and caring person.

Dr. Manrique was an amazing Doctor who helped me tremendously when I had fractured my heel in Peru. As one of the few people at the hospital who spoke English fluently, she was instrumental in serving as a liaison for me with other Doctors, nurses, insurance companies, specialists, etc. She went well beyond the call of duty and truly cares about her patients. She made a terrible situation bearable and always took the time to explain things to me. I would not hesitate whatsoever in recommending Dr. Manrique for your medical needs. She's reliable, warm, compassionate and even funny. Thank you for everything, Dr. Manrique. You are an angel!

The care that we received from Dr. Manrique and the health care team at the clinic San Borja was exceptional. Once Dr. Manrique was involved everything was put in motion immediately – tests, treatment, specialist consults, etc. – and all was done in an extremely caring and sensitive manner. Dr. Manrique and staff were professional, compassionate and available to us 24/7. We can’t speak highly enough of care provided and the fact that Dr. Manrique went above and beyond medical care helping my wife cope with my illness and providing both practical and emotional support. Dr. Manrique is one of the most competent and compassionate physicians that we have ever encountered.

I got hit on the knee by something under the ocean, while just being on the edge of the ocean but maybe too close to the higher waves. Something let go in the knee area. After two weeks of helping out at the Orphanage in Cañete, I was with a group getting ready to go to Machu Picchu. We were at this moment at the Hotel Tambo in Lima. I did not know what to do with my injured leg and asked the receptionist if I should have a massage on my leg or see a Doctor. The receptionist took one look of my leg and suggested the Doctor. She called Dr Isabel. Dr. Isabel came within half an hour and examined the leg and suggested us to go to the clinic.

Right away, I was able to see the trauma Doctor and he suggested a brace and some medication. Dr. Isabel arranged for me to have a MRI on my leg within days and also an Xray on my hand as I had injured that also. Dr. Isabel spent the whole day with me . We traveled by taxi and when I got to the hotel , I felt relieved and supported with the brace. And I also needed to stay at the hotel to rest for the week instead of going to Machu Pichu. During the week I was able to go to the clinic with a wonderful Taxi Driver who stayed with me as long as I needed his assistance.

I got the best of care. I do not know anywhere in the world where I could have gotten this care better. Dr. Isabel is doing a great and necessary work. Thank you.

In March of 2013, while vacationing in Peru, I developed altitude sickness and was hospitalized in Cusco for several days. Following my discharge from the hospital I flew to Lima before heading back to the United States. My physician in Cusco wanted me seen by his friend and colleague in Lima, Dr. Maria Isabel Manrique Prieto, MD . He told me she treated his children, a good referral, obviously better than I could give her. However, when Dr. Prieto visited me in my hotel in Lima, I found her to be exquisitely charming. We chatted on at length, even though the evening was getting late and she still had several other calls to make before returning home.

I found her extremely competent and thorough in her follow-up exam. I found out she sometimes visits The Mayo Clinic located in Jacksonville, Florida where my son lives and I sometimes vacation. We intend to hopefully reconnect on a personal basis and continue a lovely friendship.
